And he arose, and followed him. 2. AN INSANE HERMIT MK-5:1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. MK-5:2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, MK-5:3 Who had [his] dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: MK-5:4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any [man] tame him. MK-5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. MK-5:8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, [thou] unclean spirit. MK-5:9 And he asked him, What [is] thy name? And he answered, saying, My name [is] Legion: for we are many. MK-5:10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. MK-5:11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. MK-5:12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. MK-5:13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. MK-5:14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told [it] in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. MK-5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 3. THE ROMAN GOVERNER MK-15:1 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried [him] away, and delivered [him] to Pilate. MK-15:2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest [it]. MK-15:3 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. MK-15:4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee. MK-15:5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.Ô h) 0*0*0*°° ÔŒMK-15:6 Now at [that] feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired. MK-15:7 And there was [one] named Barabbas, [which lay] bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection. MK-15:8 And the multitude crying aloud began to desire [him to do] as he had ever done unto them. MK-15:9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? MK-15:10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. MK-15:11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. MK-15:12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do [unto him] whom ye call the King of the Jews? MK-15:13 And they cried out again, Crucify him. MK-15:14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. MK-15:15 And [so] Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged [him], to be crucified. 4. A YOUNG BOY MK-9:17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; MK-9:18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. MK-9:19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. MK-9:20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. MK-9:21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. MK-9:22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. MK-9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth. MK-9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. MK-9:25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, [Thou] dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. MK-9:26 And [the spirit] cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. MK-9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. 5. A PROMINENT RELIGIOUS LEADER JOH-3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: JOH-3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. JOH-3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Ô h) 0*0*0*°° ÔŒJOH-3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? JOH-3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. JOH-3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. JOH-3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. JOH-3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. JOH-3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? JOH-3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? JOH-3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. JOH-3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you [of] heavenly things? JOH-3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven. JOH-3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: JOH-3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. JOH-3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. JOH-3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. JOH-3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. JOH-3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. JOH-3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. JOH-3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. 6. A HOMEMAKER LK-10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. LK-10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. LK-10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. LK-10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: LK-10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. MK-5:35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's [house certain] which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? MK-5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. MK-5:37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. MK-5:38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. MK-5:39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. MK-5:40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. MK-5:41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. A KING LK-23:7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. LK-23:8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long [season], because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. A POOR WIDOW LK-7:11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain ; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. LK-7:12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. LK-7:16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. LK-7:17 And this rumor of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about. LK-21:1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. LK-7:3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. LK-7:4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: LK-7:5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. LK-7:6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: LK-7:7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. LK-7:8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth [it]. LK-7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about , and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. MK-2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. MK-2:6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, MK-2:7 Why doth this [man] thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? MK-2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? MK-2:9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, [Thy] sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? MK-2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) MK-2:11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. JOH-20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands ; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
